BIO

Born and raised in the NW suburbs of Denver (Arvada/Westminster), Abbey is heavily inspired by mountain landscapes, as well as the desert, since her husband is from Tucson, AZ where they frequently visit. Abbey graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a concentration in Painting. Since then, she has been enjoying painting the places and animals that inspire her and bring her joy, alongside raising her two children as a stay-at-home mother.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Abbey’s work is rooted in the belief that art can be a form of grounding—a way to disconnect from the noise of the world, and reconnect with something deeper. She uses color as a language to express her emotions, and to create moments of calm, beauty and peaceful connection for herself and others. By painting the natural world not as it is, but how it feels, it transforms into an exercise of grounding by recognizing how a place smells, feels, sounds and looks. Abbey’s favorite colors to incorporate into her work are different hues of pinks and purples which give her feelings of joy, peace and warmth.
